- BIOGRAPHY
In 1667 he matriculated at King's College, Aberdeen, and was in Francein 1679 and 1680. In November 1681 he had command of a company of Foot but left the Army in 1682. On 11 October 1683 he married Margaret Sharp, daughter of James Sharp, Archbishop of St.Andrews. In 1697 he was kidnapped by Thomas and Simon Fraser (Lord Lovat) and imprisoned on an island in the Beauly river.
Suspected of sympathy with the projected invasion of Scotland by the French in the Jacobite interest, on 8 March 1708 a P.C. warrant for his apprehension was issued. He was ordered to be sent up to London but was respited for sickness, 13 May following. He died 18 March 1715.
