2/14/1947 Obituary Rib Lake Herald "Funeral services for Gus Tilch, 83, who died at his home
in the Town of Greenwood last Tuesday, were held Friday from St. Ann's Church, Greenwood, and burial was made in the town cemetery. Rev. Charrek conducted the services. Pallbearers consisted of Anton Wudi, Sr., Joe Wudi, Sr., and Joe Bohte, Henry Fuchs, Max Rudolph and Frank Gebauer. Deceased had been in ill health the past two years, and cancer is reported as the cause of his death. Born in Breslau, Germany, in 1863, he was married in 1887 and arrived in Taylor County in 1905 where he settled with his family in the Town of Browning. He followed farming throughout his life. Besides his wife, survivors include four sons, John of Royal Oak, Michigan; Henry of Idaho; William, Town of Greenwood; and Lawrence, Rib Lake. Also 22 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Two daughters and a son preceded him in death. John and Fred Tilch of Royal Oak, Michigan; Mary Ann Tilch and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Griesl of Milwaukee were here to attend the funeral.
